The streaming community has a huge ttrpg community within it. When I started my own podcast and became involved in the ttrpg community on Twitter, I found many streamers from all walks of life. Among them was the illustrious Kareesh. I have had the pleasure of playing a text 5e game with her, and will hopefully (one day) have the opportunity to create some content with her as well (still want to play the Fallout TTRPG with her!). An amazing person, well versed in the ttrpg arts, and an active member of the glorious ttrpg community, I had her as a must-have on my list of interviews to conduct.

Homeland: Central Iowa, U.S.

Age: 35

Handle: Kareesh Valendar. Real first name is Shiloh.

Experience: She has been DMing off and on for about 7-8 years, and has been playing TTRPGs for about 17 years.

Q)How long have you been Streaming?

A) I've been streaming for 5 years and have been an Affiliate for 2 years.

Q) Have you always broadcasted your media on twitch, or was there a different platform in the early days?

A) I did some YouTube videos, but it was all pre-recorded. No live streaming.

Q) Do you primarily stream via Twitch now?

A) Yup. I am trying to upload some more stuff on YT, but all the live stuff is on Twitch.

Q) What ttprgs do you stream?

A) On my own channel? Not a whole lot, Lol. But I stream a 5e game of Ghosts of Saltmarsh on TorqueoAddo's Twitch channel, with slightly edited VODs on my YT channel.

I have streamed some one shots on my channel and have plans to do more in the future of various systems.

I've also been a host GM on the Paths and Dragons Twitch channel.

Q) When you play, do you use Foundry or something else?

A) I typically use Fantasy Grounds Unity, especially if I'm running 5e. If I'm doing just a quick session, then I'll use Owlbear Rodeo for basic maps.

Q) I have never heard of Owlbear Rodeo, sounds amazing. They provide maps?

A) Not really. It's a very basic browser-based tabletop. It has a dice function and a basic map function. So it's nice as it's free and easy to use, especially for one shots.

[https://owlbear.rodeo/ is the website.]

Q) Do you have a favorite ttrpg?

A) Not really. There are pros and cons to all of the ones that I play.

Q) How about a favorite character archetype to build? Do you lean to martial characters, spell slingers, sharpshots, etc?

A) I lean towards rogue-types or marital characters. But I'm also one of those that likes to try out every class, lol.

Q) What's your longest ran character? As, consistently played and potentially saw several campaigns. Or are you a bigger fan of one-shots?

A) My two longest running characters would probably be Jade, my ranger/rogue for a 5e game. That game ran for 1 1/2 years and went from level 1 to 20. She survived the whole thing and had a very nice story arc to go with it.

And my second character is Athena. She started as a character that someone else built in a Call of Cthulhu one-shot in which I had to take over at the last minute, so she's very much a more badass version of myself. She survived that CoC game and then I brought her back for a Monster of the Week game which is currently running.

Q) I have little actual gameplay knowledge of CoC, other than a few actual play podcasts that I have listened to. What are your thoughts on the system, and what edition did you play? It seems like a very unforgiving game, but a definite must for horror fans haha.

A) I enjoy it quite a bit. Sometimes fighting can be a bit odd. And we played the 7th edition, I believe. The latest one.

I, personally, don't watch horror or anything, but I'm totally fine playing horror TTRPGs. And somehow, most of my characters survived. One of them survived the Call of Cthulhu game and is now an agent in a Delta Green game.

Q) I have heard of Delta Green, but haven't had an opportunity to play it. Worth an investigation and consideration?

A) If you like CoC, then yeah. It's pretty much the same concept except for CoC is like if normal people experience the Great Old Ones and Delta Green is like you are working with an organization meant to investigate the Great Old Ones.

Q) Do you prefer playing, or GMing?

A) Yes, lol.

I prefer playing, but being able to lead people through stories and worlds is pretty great. Especially when you have a group who gives you really good feedback.

Q) Is it safe to assume you are open to collaborations?

If other players and/or GMs want to reach out to you, whether to ask to join you or you to join them, where can they contact you?

A) Yup! I love collabing with others!

They can shoot me an email at kareesh.info@gmail.com or a DM over on Twitter.
