Sky Zephyrs: Gaumr and Sattva's Comprehensive Guide to Airships and Sky Combat by the people behind Homie and The Dude podcast is an upcoming supplement for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.
Before even getting into the meat of the book, I have some things to say about the design. The artwork by Aleksanar Kostic is beautiful and very representative of the feel of the book. At the start of each of the chapters, there are small vignettes featuring the "authors" of the book in their day to day lives on an Airship.
The first several chapters of the book are new rules specific to Airships. Rules for 3 dimensional combat throughout the multiple air zones set out in the book are comprehensive and easy to understand without being too crunchy. The rules for building your own Airship are clear and concise, as are the rules for managing the air crews on the ships as well.
Beyond the core rules of the book, further chapters cover spells, items, and monsters you can use with the Airships. Also, several NPCs and Airships are included so you can get a quick start into your sky based shenanigans. They also go into detail about new features for PCs and what they can do during their downtime.
The final chapter of the book excites me the most! In the final chapter, they explain how the mechanics of their vehicle combat can be used as an overlay for other 5e settings that use spaceships, naval vessels, land based vehicles, or even mechs! They are also working on an app that will allow your gaming table to create their own Airship customized for your campaign!
